Opening scene of Quantock Musical Theatre's "Kiss me Kate"by Cole Porter
The Quantock Musical theatre Company's production of "Kiss me Kate" went down very well. The audience was treated to a very good performance of Cole Porter's musical. The singing was as always excellent, the costumes really colourful, the younger members of the cast excelled. A very good evenings entertainment.
Troy Kureishi the musical director with Peter Mason-Hoare led the musicians Alison Foyle on Violin, John Foyle on Drums, Mark Pearce on double Bass and reed player Luke Allen, a very talented group who with only a couple of rehearsals mastered the difficult score.
The main characters Fred/Petruchio and Lilli/Katherine were played by Brian and Barbara Williams who 'attacked' their roles with gusto, Barbara sang as always beautifully and Brian did really well not only singing and acting on stage but as the main director. Poppy Duncan who played Lois/Bianca acted and sang with surprising maturity considering that she is not yet 14 she shows amazing talent, the same can be said of her co-star Peter Collington another teenager with a great voice. The teenagers certainly show great confidence on stage and sang and danced beautifully , there is an amazing amount of talented youngsters in the area. The Gangsters were played by Malcolm Hogg and Peter Higginson who showed great comic timing, they had everyone in stitches. The whole cast did really well and the singing and dancing was well executed in a very professional manner. A very good performance well worth watching.
The company will be performing again in October and next year the company will again be performing "Oliver" this was their very first production in 2000.
In May everyone will have a chance to showcase their talents with a Talent show being put on at the Nether Stowey Village Hall all welcome application forms available from Castle stores to be completed and returned by 30 th April.
