Lord of Stockland Bristol

Mystery Lord or Lady of the Manor at Stockland

August 2003

We can exclusively reveal that at 8:30pm on August 17th, for the first time in nearly 150 years, the title of Lord of the Manor of Stockland Lovell passed to a new owner.

Eagle eyed Tim Whittingham of Over Stowey spotted the title for sale on eBay, the online auction site. The successful bidder, whose identity was withheld, paid
£3 600 plus £200 solicitors fees for the privilege of the title.

According to the sale description:

"Holding such a Title in one's name can create an heir of respectability [shouldn't that be air?], integrity and honour, elevating one's personal status to a totally new level."

We think that the owner of such a title needs servants to go with their elevated status. Quantock Online is now pleased to offer a limited edition of 100 certificates of serfdom at the modest cost of £10! Please contact the editor for further details (anonymity guaranteed).
